Rutilated Quartz is a mountain crystal with needle-like inclusions. Rutile itself is an independent mineral and belongs to the group of quartzes. The name originates from the Latin word “rutilus”, which means red or reddish and alludes to the color of the rutile. Depending on how the rutile needles have grown into the crystal, fascinating inclusion shapes and light effects are created. This gemstone is also known as “Hair of Venus” or “Fleches d’amour”, as the needles resemble the arrows of love. Rutilated Quartz is one of the most important healing stones, as it protects against bad energy and thoughts and wards off untruths. It is said to bring hope and cheer to the person who wears it. The gemstone also facilitates new ideas and concepts for life.

The rutile needles can have different colors. The color variations are caused by the intensity and coloring of the rutile fibers. Each stone is unique and recognizable. We use Rutilated Quartzes with clearly-defined reddish needles that make each stone special and individual.

You can clean your Rutilated Quartz with lukewarm water and soap. The gemstone should be protected from potential impact and scratches. Make sure to store it safely.

Rutilated Quartzes are found in Madagascar and Brazil.
